What's this?

When I see this, I laugh at how it even got through the portal, let alone the score it has. What you basically did, was create a replica of a previous level or somthing of Metroid, but you knew that, and ask yourself then, how is this a good submission? Why not actually make the level playable? It woulden't be that hard, you already created it, would most definatley get a better score than this. Overall, well this is what it is, and I mean it isn't fun looking around a map for things. Especially not when you could just as easily create this as ana actual level. Meh.

Figikii responds:

I'm making a better one.

Need to fix it up.

As much as I dislike quizes, you do have to start somewhere. Nontheless, if you want to start somehwere you should start by putting some real work into the submissions. Why not make it like 50 questions, with some sort of reward at the end? And save points, and animations in between. Not only that, but you need to generally fix the right click> forward problem. It's a simple actionscript and you shoulden't have troube putting it in. Overall, well it is a quiz, not done to well I might add. I would go as low as 1.75 for this submission.

PuDgE-ball responds:

Ok. My question limit is going to be twenty and I think I am going to release two versions of the game.

Not much to it.

Although you don't have a bad idea, here, and the artwork is fantastic, it's somehow lacking a major component. I mean what's the point of playing this game? I can't print it, I can't do anything with it. On top of that there isn't a significant amount of options. There also happens to be a lacking of a background, which takes away greatley from the submission. I always like to see some animation in a submission like this, why not create a story or somthing you can have with your created person? Overall not bad, but it just isn't full enough with features to be considered a good submission.

and thank you for shareing yours.

Well it's simple.

When you think about it, this is a simple game. And is your generic n00b flash game. I suppose you have to start somewhere, but my advice is to do somthing more challenging, somthing with a bit more depth. I mean sure you could continue this, but you would never get anywhere with it. The graphics in the game are pretty lame and thus, my advice is to go out and just re do them altogether, or create some sort of story or background or somthing. Overall this is just another one of those "meh" submissions that no one really thinks about after awhile.

Cjross313 responds:

Well, it's not supposed to be an elaborate game, it's just supposed to be fun and challenging. And I have made everything go well together, so I am happy with it.(Don't worry, for other genres that I will be making games in, My graphics will be MUCH better.

Hm...

Well I personally don't like golf games because they tend to be things like mini golf or some other variation, but this happend to be somthing totally different. Which is great, but the execution is lacking somthing, somthing that makes it stand out in general from other games. Somthing that will make me return to the game after dying. I liked that you gave us a story to work off of, to at least give us a reason to play the game, but the story is a bit farfetched for my eyes. If you were to make somthing with one guy hating another, not just a whole group it would have made sense. I also don't understand how there can be so many golf people, who all seem to have the "electirc caddy". I mean since when is there 100 or more people on one golf hole?

Anyway, the graphics in this submission are nice, but nothing special. You see when you create two character models and use them over and over, it gets dull real fast, and the graphics in general get a hit. The controls are also a bit odd. I mean if I wanted I could continue to press U or I and I could just keep going on and on. That is if I knew to go on in the first place, I spent the first five minutes just standing there, wondering what to do. There is also a problem with rewards, I mean isn't there upgrades or special bonouses or somthing? What about a highscores table? Somthing that will give us a point in playing it, or a point in coming back. Now that I thin of it why not some sort of dying animation? Like the guy falling down or somthing, instead of just dissipearing.

The good.
1. Fairly orginal- How many games like this are there?

The bad.
1. Few character models- I mean it's not fun hitting the same guy over and over is it?
2. Glitchy controls- A bit odd that you can click the same button over and over and kill them off just like that.
3. No instructions- They are there, but they don't help you very much.
4. High scores- What's the point of coming back to this?
5. No rewards/upgrades- Pretty one sided gameplay than.

Overall I would say that you put some good work into this, but there just isn't enough reason to play this game, and it just dosen't provide the fun it could. Pretty average game. 5/10

inixis-tk responds:

"I mean since when is there 100 or more people on one golf hole?", lol very true, its meant to be far fetch. It doesn't seem anyone had gotten to the later levels with more characters. yer i was thinking of adding bonuses and other clubs but heh its my first platform. thanks for the comment, ill defiantly use the advise for future platform games.

Reminds me of...

This submission reminds me of Pokemon. The exact same way you play too. Next time add a bit more interactivity. Like, for example, if I click space at a tree, a message actually appears. As well, maybe next time add an expierence system. Seems kinda redundant otherwise, to battle the monsters. Maybe some custimization too, like color of hair, clothing and stuff like that. The gameplay itself was quite enthralling, and kept you going, I personally didin't like the whole, running back and forth type of gameplay. Overall though, you made a good game and it really is worked hard on. Great job.

Jhelle responds:

Hey Dew, thanks for playing the game.
In this game I had the idea that you had to beat monsters to access upgrades, which was kinda my substitute for a level system. And about the customization, well cause of the story I didn't intend to put that in :) you wouldn't like a Red heared cloud with dreadlocks and some robe in FF7, would you :D ?

But chapter 2 will bring improvements and further the story :D don't worry

How is this fun?

I suppose the positive note for this "game" is the rag doll affect, but I don't really see any other positive other than that. From what I saw there was no health bar, which lead to me just letting them fight it out a few times, with no real clear idea how to win or do anything. The game itself could be pretty good, but there is a point where rag doll, and control over the player need to intertwine and you have not done that here. Maybe next time try adding a background, and some selectable characters, work more on it. Overall I don't know, this isn't exactley orginal and it dosen't exactley blow me away, but I can tell you that it needs some more work into it for sure, good potential.

Dillxn responds:

Thanks, man. I really appreciate it :)

Well, it's a start.

To be honest with you I don't even know if I can call this a good submission. Or even the start of one. I played it for two seconds and it glitched on me. For some reason if you put both players off the screen it just zooms in and keeps going, which is just redundant beyond belief. As for the gameplay itself, it's a good idea just fix up the glitches. And add a background, and maybe some normal characters, and some story. Then you will have a 3.50 worthy flash.

OMGZILLA responds:

Its supposed to do that.(Duh)

Nice.

Although most dress ups arent very good, and niether is this, you did manage to make the character quite nicely along with the clothing as well. You really did a good job there. What would be nice is if you strayed away from conventional dress ups, and made buttons instead of items. If the clothing was automatically on there it would make a lot easier, and a better all around expierence on it. Maybe it would be nice to add a choice of background for the character. All in all though great artistic stuff, just do somthing different.

MSh-V181-PV responds:

Well, hat's god idea, I'll do that kind of dressup game after I'll finally release, how to do it. After all, I'm just a noob in flashmaking ^^***

Good stuff.

Now this is what a flash game is supposed to be. You have a fun time without wasting an hour or two doing it it. I personally found it a bit slow though, maybe next time if you speeded it up that would be nice. This game is so simple to pick up and play that I really enjoyed it. The highscores really adds that extra bit to the game that makes it even better too. Not to mention the graphics and animation in general which are also done very well. All in all you did a really good jov. Good stuff.

RobbieSkater responds:

Thanks for the review. Glad you like it. Try lowering the quality if it runs slow.
